motherfuckingchickpeas:

We need to separate the idea of veganism being a thing for animal lovers. Because then people think “oh if I don’t love animals then there’s no reason for me to become vegan.” It lets carnists allow themselves moral exception because they think they don’t love animals enough.

Like, you don’t have to love animals in order to not kill them. It’s just the barest, minimum sliver of decency to not kill animals.

Why are you so angry about JLaw's nudes being leaked? I thought you didn't like her.

  • i am angry because this is just another example of women being shamed for taking nudes instead of the douchebag who spreads them being shamed for violating someone’s privacy like that
  • i am angry because nobody deserves this, regardless of how i feel about their personality
  • i am angry because this is pure misogyny and shows how women aren’t respected in our culture
  • i am angry because she did not consent to having those pics posted everywhere but they still were
  • i am angry because on the VERY RARE occasion this happens to a male celeb he is not shamed but rather the perpetrator is and it’s forgotten quickly whereas this will haunt jennifer for years and years to come
  • i am angry because this was a sex crime and people are treating it like a joke
  • i am angry because she is being exploited/objectified and some gross dudebros are probably jacking off to those pics
  • i am angry because people are CONGRATULATING the fucker who did such an atrocious thing to her instead of being appalled

listen i may not like her personally but the fact remains that as a human being she is entitled to body autonomy and to choose who sees her naked body and who doesn’t

very much this. I’ve had exes share my pictures (including nudes) to complete strangers and give out personal information and potentially put my safety at risk and I would not wish this shit on my worst enemy, this is an abhorrent violation. This is fucking horrendous.

And the answer is not to tell women to stop taking nudes. The answer is for men to stop. fucking. sharing them.

Poor father sells all his land so 13-year-old daughter can enroll in microbiology master’s program in India
In a country where many girls are still discouraged from going to school, Sushma Verma is having anything but a typical childhood.
The 13-year-old girl from a poor family in north India has enrolled in a master’s degree in microbiology, after her father sold his land to pay for some of his daughter’s tuition in the hope of catapulting her into India’s growing middle class.
Verma finished high school at 7 and earned an undergraduate degree at age 13 — milestones she said were possible only with the sacrifices and encouragement of her uneducated and impoverished parents.
“They allowed me to do what I wanted to do,” Verma said in an interview, speaking her native language of Hindi. “I hope that other parents don’t impose their choices on their children.” (AP Photo/Rajesh Kumar Singh)

It’s my hope that in the future, women of color will be able to forge careers in STEM without the necessity of sacrifices or financial hardship. Sushma Verma’s accomplishments can hopefully light our way forward.
